Good example of data journalism:

This article highlights the dependency of the Ukrainian military on Elon Musk’s network of satellites in the war in Ukraine. It highlights the struggle between being too dependent on one companies network, while also showing it is the most extensive network available in remote areas, and during war time.
This article is a good example of data journalism because it creates visualizations based on large datasets and public information to illustrate the scale of the network. Presenting the number of satellites would not have the same impact as the illustration of all the satellites. Especially online it is elegantly done, with an animation showing the increasing network over time.
It is not the most ‘data heavy’ article out there, but the use of visualizations based on data does elevate the story to a higher level.
