This article does an excellent job explaining the intricacies of school zoning in America, along with why and how they can drawn to increase or decrease racial segregation. It has solid and readable charts that guide the reader through deciphering school zone diversity maps, and has a clipart character that draws the eye to the critical information in the chart. Maps are hard to describe in words, and the article does an excellent job with its charts that demonstrate the, “imaginary fences” we’ve created in American schooling. Also, it is interactive and can alter the story in real-time to data on any specific school zone in America. It will then show you real-time maps of how segregated the school zones are and if the lines were drawn to help or hurt segregation.
